Free QR Code Generator

Create a QR code for a link, Wi-Fi network, email, or phone number — free, no sign-up, and it never leaves your browser.

Adding a logo automatically raises error correction to keep the code scannable.

⚠️ Low contrast between foreground and background can make this QR code hard to scan.

Why three corners look different from the fourth

Look closely at any QR code and you'll notice three of the four corners have a distinctive large square pattern, while the fourth doesn't — that's not a design accident. Those three squares are "finder patterns," and their job is letting a scanner instantly figure out the code's orientation and boundaries, even if it's photographed at an angle, upside down, or from the side. Because the pattern only appears in three corners, not all four, a scanner can always tell which way is "up" from their arrangement alone. This is part of why QR codes scan reliably even when held at an angle or partially rotated, unlike a barcode, which generally needs to be read in a specific orientation.

Frequently asked questions

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes, completely free with no sign-up, no watermark by default, and no limit on how many codes you create.

Do my QR codes expire or stop working?

No. These are static QR codes — the data is encoded directly into the code itself, so it works forever and isn't tied to any account or server.

Does my data get uploaded anywhere?

No. The QR code is generated entirely in your browser — nothing you type is sent to a server.

What's the difference between the error correction levels?

Higher levels (Q, H) let a QR code keep working even if part of it is damaged, dirty, or partially covered — useful if you're printing it small or adding a logo — but the code becomes slightly more visually dense.

We've noticed an ad blocker is active. Cwtch.es relies on ads to stay free, so QR codes downloaded while a blocker is active will include a small Cwtch.es credit line beneath the code. Disable your ad blocker for this site (or add it to your allow-list) and recheck to download without it.
