Why the same tool sounds different on different devices

This reads text aloud using your browser's built-in speech synthesis, which relies on voices installed as part of your operating system rather than voices this site provides itself — that's also why it works with no upload or processing delay, since nothing has to travel anywhere first. It also means the exact voice options and quality vary a fair amount between a Mac, a Windows PC, and a phone, since each platform ships its own set of built-in voices. For streaming specifically, this is commonly used to read out donation messages, sub alerts, or chat commands aloud — giving a small, distinct moment of audio feedback for events that might otherwise only show up as a visual notification easy to miss mid-gameplay.

Why don't I see many voice options?

Available voices depend on your operating system and browser — some platforms only offer a handful of built-in voices, while others offer many more.

Can I use this as an alert in OBS?

Yes. "Copy OBS embed link" gives you a link that carries your Twitch/Kick connection and settings with it — needed because OBS's browser can't see what's connected or saved here on your regular one. Paste that into a Browser Source and it'll speak alerts automatically, with nothing shown on screen since there's no visual for a pure-audio tool. Note that OBS Browser Sources sometimes need "Control audio via OBS" enabled in source properties for the audio to route into your stream correctly.

Can I adjust how fast it speaks?

Yes — speed and pitch are both adjustable, so you can slow it down for clarity or speed it up for a quicker alert.

Can it avoid reading out offensive language?

Yes — "Don't say offensive names or words aloud" is on by default. It covers two things: a viewer's display name (since they can set it to anything — a flagged name is read as "Someone" instead of skipping the alert entirely), and anything typed into the message box above, where individual flagged words are replaced with "beep" rather than the whole message being blocked. If the filter itself can't be checked (e.g. a momentary connection issue), the message won't be spoken at all rather than risk something offensive going out unfiltered — turn the toggle off if you need to speak it anyway.

I'm connected to both Twitch and Kick — can I pause one without disconnecting it?

Yes — each platform has its own "Alerts on" toggle next to its connection status. Turning it off silences that platform's alerts while staying connected, so you don't need to go through reconnecting it later just to pause it temporarily.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. Speech is generated entirely by your browser and operating system — nothing you type is sent to a server. If you connect Twitch or Kick, that's separate: it talks to their servers to get your live alerts, but never sees or sends anything you've typed.
