See the year out

  1. Early December: make a year-in-photos slideshow to send to family.
  2. For calls abroad: use the time zone clock to work out when it’s midnight where they are.
  3. On the night: put the New Year’s Tracker on a screen and watch each timezone reach midnight. The sweep takes about 26 hours from first to last.
  4. Afterwards: turn the best moment from the night into a GIF.

Frequently asked questions

Is the New Year’s Tracker live or simulated?

Genuinely live. Midnight arrives in each timezone at the real moment shown, based on your device’s own clock.

When does the sweep start and end?

It starts when it turns midnight in the first timezone to reach the new year and finishes about 26 hours later, once the last timezone gets there.

Where does the fireworks number come from?

That part is just for fun. Nobody could count real fireworks worldwide, so it climbs steadily as more timezones reach midnight.

Is my data sent anywhere?

No. The tracker runs locally in your browser using your device’s clock.
