A Halloween plan that works

  1. A week or two ahead: pick the pumpkin design. A clear, high-contrast subject on a plain background makes the best stencil. For a busy photo, run it through the Background Remover first.
  2. Check the preview: a shape completely surrounded by a cut-away area will look like it’s floating in the preview. That’s a real limitation of automatic detection, the same as it would be if carved, so add a small bridge when you carve.
  3. Costume still undecided? Generate a few ideas by category with the costume generator and ask everyone in the family to vote.
  4. On the night: print a scavenger hunt checklist for the party, or run the Trick or Treat vote on your Halloween stream.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded when I make a pumpkin stencil?

No. The conversion, the boundary detection and the stencil itself all happen locally in your browser.

What photo works best for a pumpkin stencil?

A clear, high-contrast subject against a plain background. The tool only looks at brightness, so it can’t tell background from subject. A cluttered photo is easier if you remove the background first.

Can I choose a specific costume?

Not directly. The generator is built for “surprise me” browsing: each press is a fresh random pick from the category, so you can see repeats.

Can I leave the name blank on a Wanted poster?

Yes. An empty name prints as “UNKNOWN”, which suits the theme.
